College is a defining period in every student’s life. In the hallowed halls and corridors on campus, bright minds are sculptured, friends are made, and dreams are born. The years spent at college are pivotal for students to set their life goals, build their identity, and become wise, educated pioneers of the future. College means hard work, dedication, and commitment; these elements require an environment that can harbor and nurture the abilities of university students to ensure a successful process of education.
At Dar Al-Hekma Private University the mission is to support students and make their journey through literature, science, and art an exciting one. The students at DAH are challenged and encouraged to shape themselves into outstanding citizens and brilliant academics. Dar Al-Hekma has tailored its academic and interactive approach to provide students with the activities necessary to help them become future leaders as well as accomplished entrepreneurs.
The student life at DAH is not only a journey of education, it’s a path of honing skills, engaging with the community, and unforgettable experiences. Here is a glimpse of a few aspects that make life at DAH extra special.
First Year Experience
It’s almost rare to find a friendlier and more welcoming environment in KSA than the one at Dar Al-Hekma. The university is more than delighted to warmly welcome new students as they embark on their first year as college students. Their “Creativity” orientation program for newcomers is designed to be unique, and it takes place on campus at the beginning of the academic year.
The program has been successfully run by local and international trainers for the last four years, and it has made for a mind-changing experience. The aim of the program is to focus on intellectual and social enrichment while discovering one’s self and building skills to achieve full potential. Furthermore, this program is mandatory for all incoming freshmen, it has also been regarded as an enlightening, enjoyable, and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
DAH’s interest extends to include teachings that speak to the soul. Dar Al-Quran initiative offers students different programs like the art of the “Quran” recitation, “Tafseer” classes, conducts several engaging workshops, and one-on-one sessions.
The 5-D Program
Dar Al-Hekma is implementing an extracurricular program that aims to entirely elevate the educational and university experience for participants through a variety of carefully constructed activities that extend beyond the walls of the classroom. This program focuses on five dimensions, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual, Physical, and Self-development, hence the name. The main purpose of the 5-D program is to increase student’s development and growth in these five distinctive domains, which in return would expedite their journey towards acquiring vital proficiencies.
The university believes strongly that through this program there’s a lot that can be accomplished. It provides students with the tools and environment necessary to develop essential soft skills that would surely raise eyebrows when added to the CV, such as communication, leadership, and teamwork. The program also allows students the chance to heavily interact with the community, its members, and organizations, acquainting themselves with social issues, while also developing a strong spirit of citizenship in the process.
Students that achieve a master degree in educational leadership will be qualified to take the lead in educational institutions and to be the front-runners in the teaching and learning processes for the development of the local community.
Career Advising Services
College Students generally assume that job search begins after graduation, and expect to land one immediately. However, that’s not the best way to go about the matter. Career planning and preparation should be an ongoing process throughout the academic journey.
The career preparation office at DAH works tirelessly to aid students in obtaining actual work experience before graduation by exposing them to potential employers, securing their participation in international as well as local competitions, and offering them lectures along with workshops.
These efforts are designed to help students learn how to write a professional CV that would capture attention instead of being skipped or dismissed, they also assist in teaching students how to approach a job interview and be confident enough to answer questions proficiently.
